Hp AMP 100 Printer

Disclosure: I received a HP AMP 100 printer to facilitate this review. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

In Orlando, Florida for a conference this summer, I attended an awesome event where I got to see the latest and greatest offerings from HP, I was like a kid in a candy store.

Something that really caught my eye was the HP AMP printer, I was able to demo during the event. It has a lot of interesting features that I have never seen in a printer. One feature I especially remembered is that you can receive phone calls with it, if your phone is connected via Bluetooth, or you can stream your favorite music. This is great for me as I do most of my work from my home office.

Imagine my surprise when one showed up on my doorstep!! I couldn’t believe how light and compact it is. This isn’t just a printer it’s an all-in-one office assistant.

The HP 100 AMP Printer not only prints, it includes built-in Bluetooth speakers and Smart Amp technology that allow you to listen to music, take phone calls directly from the printer, scan, manage supplies. Also, you can charge your smartphone from the USB port.  All with a simple app, HP Smart available for iPhone and Android,

free to download in the App Store. I installed the app to my iPhone and to my Galaxy S8 and in about 5 minutes we were printing!

I came home one day, needing to print some paperwork and was unable to find the AMP. I looked all over the place for it and it was just gone. When my other half came home I asked him if he knew where it was and he said he sure did and that he was holding it hostage in his work truck and he was using it. Our car came equipped with a built-in power inverter, which we have never really found a use for.  We are now a couple weeks later and he says he uses it every day during his travels across Florida.  I have now purchased a second AMP printer to keep at home.

To date we have replaced ink cartridges a couple times and feel that the ink usage is efficient and replacements are competitively priced. HP offers a monthly ink subscription we have yet to try, but will soon. We have printed around 1500 pages and have yet to have a paper jam.

The only dislike we have found is that the only color available is black, HP released a very similar looking printer around the same time that is available in assorted colors.

The HP AMP is available for purchase at Walmart for $129.99.
